Detroit, (March 2, 2018) – The Haartz Corporation, in cooperation with the Gas Axe Garage, supplied OEM material for the Kevin Anderson owned and designed “Crystal Cadillac,” that debuted today at the 66th Detroit Autorama, taking place now through Sunday at Cobo Center.

This one-of-a-kind Cadillac Dream Car is built on the premise of “What if Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell designed a custom car?” The foundation vehicle, a 1947 Cadillac 62 Series four-door sedan with 47,000 miles that had only been museum displayed, has transformed into a remarkable two-door candy-coated, Carson-topped coupe.

Haartz supplied its Stayfast material for the Carson-style top, which is oyster colored and accurate to the time period.

“The ‘Crystal Cadillac’ is a unique tribute to the authentic styling of Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell, and we are pleased to be a part of it,” said Eric Haartz, CEO of The Haartz Corporation. “Stayfast is commonly used for simulated convertible tops, or simcon tops as they are commonly referred. The craftsmanship and detail in the leather and fabric throughout the entire vehicle really showcases how important it is to maintain OEM-quality materials for projects of this caliber.”

In addition to the top, the vehicle transformation includes lowering it 17 inches, as well as, converting it from a sedan to a coupe. This involved changing to larger doors, moving the B-pillar and cutting back the door length by seven inches. The interior includes extensive leather throughout as well as custom lead crystal Cadillac emblems and sunken-in door garnish moldings.
