Long Cobra Grain

Long or Long Cobra grain

The variations of this grain seem to have been used for closed-car top deck material, rather than for open and convertible car soft tops. Earliest appearance of this grain in North American automotive use seems to be in the late Teens, with widespread use in the 1920s and into the 1930s. The grain enjoyed a brief resurgence for vinyl roofcover about 1964 through 1966, and the example shown here was made from tooling of that era.
